My first fantasy novel, The First True Song, "An Ayam Handsoom Story" is finally done done.
There are still plans for an illustrated hardcover edition and an audiobook version voiced by Michele and me. For now, the paperback and Kindle copies are ready.
This book started after an exciting night of tabletop role-playing with some friends. I talked Michele’s ear off about it, and rather than getting irritated, she encouraged me to start writing it down. I already had a solid backstory about a brokenhearted bard, and I just started recording the adventures Ayam Handsoom went on.
Ayam Handsoom was raised to use music the wrong way. His voice could charm a room, turn every head toward the stage, and give his family the opening they needed to pick pockets in the crowd. He was good at it, which made refusing harder. But when Ayam finally says no, he loses the only home he has ever known.
So he sets off to the west with his good friends: an opinionated gnome and a fire dancer with obsidian horns. And they get into all kinds of shenanigans.
